My name is Lauren, and I am Sophomore at Oklahoma Christian University. My major is Public Relations and love it more everyday! I have two jobs. I work on campus as a receptionist and with my home church helping our church planner. Normally, I would babysit during the school year or work at a friends' family owned daycare everyday after school. With my classes getting harder I thought I should work somewhere on campus.
Here is what I plan on posting: My life. The in's and out, the up's and downs, and even some funny stories along the way. I guess you could say it is kinda like an online journal! I will ALWAYS be positive. I see life as a blessing and I would love to cherish everyday with you!
Today is Friday February 27, 2015. I should probably give you a run down of my life so far, you've missed a bunch. I was born in Edmond, Oklahoma on July 5, 1995. My Mom said that the fireworks on the 4th of July must of scared me out! [Sidenote: I am still scared of fireworks to this day.] After I was home for a couple of days my older brother, Kyle, kindly asked my parents if they could take me back to where I came from. They told him it didn't work that way and he has been stuck with me ever since!
After a few years I was forced to attend school. I walked to school everyday with my older brother and we wouldn't really talk much on the way there. I wouldn't say I am a morning person but, I just really love to talk! We are only three years apart in age and two years apart in school. (I was moved up a grade because of my outstanding scholarly skills. Just joking! My Mom actually wanted me out of the house sooner so she pushed to go to school as soon as I could!)
Around the age of six my Mother sat my brother and I down and told us we were going to have another sibling. I was so excited!! I was going to have a little sister. At the ultra-sound they said the baby was a boy. I was absolutely devastated. I cried for a bit and then decided I would just act like he was a girl anyways. How would the baby know that he wasn't a girl? I called him Luke-ella for the first two years of his life, and he didn't seem to mind!
Fast forward. Kyle graduated high-school and I was still a sophomore. We would ride together everyday, not out of choice I may add. I was a drama/choir geek and he was the star of the baseball team. Once he moved on and went to college that next year , I was just old enough to drive myself to school. My Mother started her job at 6am[ she's an accountant] and my Dad started around 7am[ He is a middle school Physical Education teacher]. Which meant that I had to drive Luke to elementary school every morning. I made him late too many times to count. I also wasn't the best driver, one morning I was driving with one hand and was distracted by the music playing in my car, or the sun [thats what I told my parents]. A mailbox jumped in front of my car and knocked my left mirror off! Luckily we were in my neighborhood and my neighbor came to help me once he heard the sobs.
I graduated high school as a ... well, whatever its called when you have 3.5GPA all four years of high school. I decided to attend Oklahoma Christian because my brother was there. I hadn't really seen him in two years so I assumed living on the same campus would help. My freshman year first semester I roomed with a friend from church camp. We found out we were better friends than roommates so we found different roommates the next semester. Second semester I roomed with my best friend from middle school, Chelsey, and we had so much fun!!! Prices were raised the following year and she was forced to move home. She is now working full time at Starbucks. Even with our busy schedules we try to hang out.
Here we are at 2015! My brother, Kyle, got married this summer to his high-school sweetheart on June 14th, 2014. Luke also turned thirteen years old on June 14th, 2014! I turned nineteen this summer and decided that I wanted to go rock wall climbing for my birthday! My boyfriend, [at that time, we will call him Sean], went with me because all of my friends were out of town. It was going well until Sean was climbing up the wall, I was holding the rope that connected to his harness and was distracted by a very muscular guy my age who walked past me. Sean yelled something at me I thought he said, "I want to come down." So I let the rope go and was watching Sean come down. Well, I guess he said that he just wanted to sit and take a break up in in harness. Trusting me, he let go of the wall and flew from side to side hitting his back on the concrete walls of the building. "WHOOPS. MY bad," I said grinning hoping that he didn't notice me staring at the attractive man. We broke up a week before school started on our 8 months.
I started sophomore year single and ready to make friends! I roomed with a girl I didn't know too well and I regret that. Long story short it didn't work out. I am currently living in a suite with six other girls. Emily is my roommate, and things couldn't be better! Hannah and Ellie live together across from us. Ellie has been my best friend since freshman year. I don't remember how we met but, I assume it was a great story! Right now I am dating on of my good friends from freshman year, his name is Kenneth and he really couldn't be any more perfect for me. We had a class together second semester pf my freshman year and just caught a liking for each other then. I would eat and orange everyday and throw the peels at him just to get on his nerves. He is quiet which is perfect because get to talk all I want! I am beyond thankful that our friendship turned into a relationship.
I rushed Theta Theta Theta this fall and we are about to have Spring Sing next week!
Next post I will explain Spring Sing at OC and post some picture too!
Have blessed Day and where ever you are stay warm! Unless you're at the beach, then put on some sun screen and drink tea.
